The Meta Pixel (previously known as Facebook Pixel) is a small piece of code that goes on a website.
By adding your pixel to TPT, you can do three things:
- Bring back website visitors: Create a “Custom Audience” to retarget Buyers who have visited your store or viewed a product listing.
- Find new Buyers: Create a “Lookalike Audience” to reach new people who resemble your Buyers.
- Track ad performance: Track your Meta ad campaigns beyond just clicks by seeing how many users add your resources to their cart or wish list. Please note that with the update to iOS 15, some ad tracking capabilities may be impacted for Apple users.
To add your Meta Pixel to TPT, please follow these steps:
- Click on your profile icon on the top right, and then click “My Account.”
- Then click "Facebook Pixel."
- After you click “Facebook Pixel,” find your Meta pixel ID by going to Events Manager or by following these steps here.
- Once you have your Meta pixel, add it to your “Facebook Pixel” page in your TPT account and click “Save.”
Once you've installed the pixel, here are the events you will see:
- View Content: This includes views of your product pages or store page. You can distinguish product page views from store page views by looking at the content_name parameter, which will be either the product title or "store." Product page views will also include other parameters like value, which is the price.
- Add to Cart: This event tracks when a Buyer adds one of your paid products to their cart. These events also contain parameters like price and title.
- Add to Wish List: This event tracks when a Buyer adds one of your products to their “Wish List.” These events also contain price and title parameters.
- Purchases (new as of August 2024): This event tracks each time one of your products is purchased.
Please be aware that Meta sometimes over-reports the number of purchases attributed to Meta Ads. For accurate purchase information, always refer to your Seller Dashboard. The number of purchases indicated in your Meta Events Manager should also be correct. Additionally, keep in mind that revenue reported for purchases will reflect your total sales rather than earnings.
