Self-checking drag and drop questions allow Teacher-Authors to create interactive activities by marking areas as drop zones and associating movable objects, such as images and shapes, to them.
Drop zones are self-checking answer areas for moveable objects that enable the creation of activities such as sorting and matching. Students can check their work and receive instant feedback on whether their placements were correct.

- Select ‘Drop Zone’
- The shape or image will now be designated as a drop zone
Tip #1: Shift + Click to select multiple objects, clicking ‘Drop Zone’ will turn each object into a distinct drop zone.
Tip #2: A shape with a transparent background can be used to make a drop zone over a background element, follow the steps in the next section.

How do I associate an object with a drop zone?
Associate an object with a drop zone:
- Add an object to be associated with a drop zone (shape or image)
- Click on the ‘Drag and Drop’ icon on the toolbar
- Select ‘Movable’
- Select the drop zone that the object should belong to
- Objects can be marked as ‘None’ and ‘All’: Doing so indicates that the object does not belong in any or all drop zones, respectively.
- An object will display a number corresponding to its drop zone
Tip #3: Shift + Click to select multiple objects, clicking a drop zone to associate them with will then link all selected objects with that drop zone.
Tip #4: It is recommended that all objects that are intended to be movable have an association added, even if that is ‘None’ or ‘All’ to ensure the self-checking works properly.
