What is standards crosswalking?
Standards crosswalking enables you to view equivalent standards from both CCSS and your state-specific standards. For example, on the same product, you could read a standard about counting from 1-20 in the Common Core State Standards and the equivalent standard about counting from 1-20 in your state-specific standards.
Which states does standards crosswalking apply to?
Crosswalking can only occur between CCSS and state-specific standards that are similar enough to CCSS to accurately translate.
Unfortunately, since Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Virginia Standards of Learning (VA SOL) are not structured similarly to CCSS, we’re unable to provide translations from CCSS to TEKS and VA SOL. However, Sellers can still tag their resources with CCSS, TEKS, and VA SOL.
How did TPT arrive at these crosswalks?
We’ve worked closely with a third party company to ensure high confidence in the crosswalked standards that are being displayed. Crosswalking will only occur in the following instances:
1. If the state-specific standards are similar enough to CCSS to accurately translate, and
2. If the concept and/or text of the standard is an exact match from CCSS to the state-specific standards
If crosswalking cannot occur for the reasons listed above, the originally tagged CCSS will still be visible on the product page.
We’re using location data to ensure that you see the state-specific standards that are pertinent to you. You can update your location at any time on your profile page.
Where can I find standards crosswalks?
You’ll be able to see crosswalked standards on the product page of resources that are tagged with CCSS where translations are possible. You can toggle between viewing the original CCSS tags and their state-specific standard in two places:
You can toggle between seeing CCSS and your state-specific standards in the product info section.
We’ve also added a standards tab next to the product description for a more comprehensive view of the standards a resource is tagged with. You can also toggle between seeing CCSS and your state-specific standards on the standards tab.
How do I update my location?
You can update your location on your profile page to ensure that crosswalking occurs to the correct state (where applicable).
Why don’t crosswalked standards appear for me?
You may not see crosswalked standards for a few reasons:
1. Crosswalking only occurs in certain states. Make sure to update your location in your profile to see if crosswalking is possible for your state.
2. Crosswalking will only occur if the state-specific standards are similar enough to CCSS to accurately translate, and if the concept and/or text of the standard is an exact match from CCSS to the state-specific standards
In order to keep crosswalking as accurate as possible we’ve opted to only surface crosswalks that meet the above requirements, rather than surface a crosswalked standard that is only somewhat related.
What if I don’t want to see crosswalks?
The original CCSS tags will be visible by default. You can toggle between viewing the original CCSS tags or your state-specific standards on the product page.
What about international standards?
Unfortunately, CCSS will not be translated to international standards. If you’re a Buyer outside the US, you’ll only see the original standards tags that have been added by the Seller.
Does standards crosswalking apply to all resource types?
Yes, standards crosswalking will be available for any resource type.
